Abstract

Teaching learning process cannot separated from strategy. There are many strategy to make English learning fun and active. Students are encouraged to expose themselves to English. They are given as many opportunities as possible to use English through Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) Strategy. The characteristics of effective learning are active from the beginning to the end and involve all the students in the process as part of active learning. The study determines the formulations of research, they are: 1) what is the students’ ability to write procedural texts using Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) Strategy? 2) what is the students’ ability to write procedural texts using lecturing method? 3) how significant is the effect of Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) Strategy on the students’ ability to write procedural texts? The purpose of this research are: 1) to identify students’ ability to write procedural text using Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) Strategy, 2) to identify students’ ability to write procedural text using lecturing method, and, 3) to reveal the result of teaching writing using Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) Strategy to write procedural text. The method used in the research was experimental method. The experiment was divided into two group they were experimental group (teaching by using Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) Strategy) and control group (teaching by using lecturing method). The data analysis was used to compute significant difference between teaching by using Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) Strategy and teaching by using lecturing method on students’ ability to write procedural text. The research findings show that: 1) The mean score of experimental group is 72.83 and the mean score of control group is 71. Therefore, the experimental group is higher than control group. 2) The mean score of control group is 71 and the experimental group is 72.83. Therefore, the control group is lower than experimental group. 3) The result of data analysis shows that t_count is 2.68 while t_(table ) is 2.39. It means that t_count is higher than t_table. Moreover, the null hypothesis (H_O) is rejected and working hypothesis (H_a) is accepted. Since t_count is higher than t_table. This study is concluded that, Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) Strategy is more effective to write procedural text than lecturing method because the mean score of experimental group is higher than mean of control group. Morever, teaching writing by using Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) Strategy is good in improving students’ ability to write procedural texts.
