Abstract

This study aims to discover the implementation of video-making assignment as project-based learning to foster students’ speaking ability. In particular this research was intended to reveals several purposes such as to find out the implementation of a video-making assignment as project-based learning to foster EFL students’ speaking ability. To reveal the students' perceptions of the use of a video-making assignment as project-based learning to foster their speaking ability. To reveal the teacher's opinion about the students' speaking ability in the video-making assignment as project-based learning. This study used a case study design of qualitative method. There are 15 participants of the tenth-grade of MAN 3 Sukabumi in Academic Year 2022/2023. The researcher employed the observation, questionnaire, and interview to collecting the data. The observation conducted to find out the implementation of a video-making assignment as project-based learning to foster EFL students’ speaking ability. Then this study used the questionnaire to reveal the students' perceptions of the use of a video-making assignment as project-based learning to foster their speaking ability. Then, this research conducting interview to reveal the teacher's opinion about the students' speaking ability in the video-making assignment as project-based learning. The result showed that the implementation a video-making assignment as project-based learning positively can foster EFL students speaking ability. This result were supported by students' perceptions of the use of a video-making assignment also showed positive perception. Moreover, based on teacher opinion of the use of a video-making assignment provide student to practice their speaking ability and to help student to enhance their speaking ability. In conclusion, this research shows that implementing the video-making assignment as project-based learning in fostering speaking ability, positively can fostered the students’ speaking ability. It is recommended to the English teacher to help the students to face speaking difficulties and to enhance their speaking ability. This research also have possibility to develop by future research to explore the related research about the fostering students’ speaking ability.
