Abstract

This research has three aims (1) to know how students' interpreting ability is, (2) to know how students' speaking ability is, and (3) to know how the significant correlation between both variables. The quantitative correlation method was used in this research. The data of the research were 37 students' in the Interpreting Class at English Education Department. The data got from the Lecture on interpreting and the Lecture on speaking. After that, the researcher correlates both of the data of the research using SPSS 26. The result shows that the total score of interpreting ability is 2755 from 37 students. Whereas 35% or 13 students include good ability, 52% or 19 students in include fairly good ability, and 13% or five students is have poor knowledge. In addition, the total score of speaking ability is 3043 from the 37 students and the same people. Whereas 54% or 20 students is included good ability in speaking, and 46% or 17 students is included relatively good. The research finding is that the t count is 1.38 that smaller than 1.68, so Ho is accepted. In addition, the r count is 0.228 it means that Ho is accepted. The result of this research is there is no correlation between students' interpreting ability and students' speaking ability.
