Abstract

Woman emancipation is born from woman’s awareness at subordination, discrimination and marginalization. It aims to get equality in right. It is seen from character, namely Nila Wahdati The aim of research is to answer the two questions of problem that arise:1) how does Nila represent woman emancipation 2) how does woman emancipation in Nila influence to other characters. In the process of exploring and analyzing data, the researcher used the feminism theory of Mary Wollstonecraft about woman emancipation; it is caused the idea represents woman emancipation in main character in Khaled Hosseini’s And The Mountains Echoed names Nila Wahdati to obtain the same right with men, with no accusatory nature as women. The researcher in this analysis used descriptive method, in a form qualitative. The qualitative method which mean of describing some quotes analyzing to point of how the research is. The researcher used content analysis to get description about woman emancipation in Khaled Hosseini’s And The Mountains Echoed. The result of research; First, there are few forms of woman emancipation, such as getting education, speaking up, thinking critically, awakening of social issue, making the work, being a public figure and being independent. Second, woman emancipation has big impact to people’s life and perception.
