Abstract

ENGLISH: This research analysed compound words in political articles in The Jakarta Post. The problem formulation the research, first, what types of compound words occur in political articles in The Jakarta Post. Second, what kinds of the semantic head the compound words have in political articles in The Jakarta Post. The researcher used the compound word theory of Plag (2002). This research used a descriptive qualitative method. The result of this research are first, the researcher found 45 data of compound words with three types of compound words. There are 29 data are nominal compound, nine data are verbal compound and seven data are adjectival compound. Second, the researcher found 39 data are endocentric compound, four data are exocentric compound and two data are copulative compound with one data is appositional compound and one data is coordinative compound. Compound words in political articles do not always have a correlation to the political theme. From 45 data compound words, only 17 data compound words have correlation to the political theme. Theoretically, that compound words in political articles can be understood the meaning can be through finding the type and analyzed the semantic head of the compound words. Practically, that compound word in political articles does not always have a correlation with the political theme. INDONESIA: Penelitian ini menganalisa kata majemuk dalam artikel politik di The Jakarta Post. Perumusan masalah penelitian, pertama, apa jenis kata majemuk yang terjadi dalam artikel politik di The Jakarta Post. Kedua, apa jenis kepala semantik kata majemuk dalam artikel politik di The Jakarta Post. Peneliti menggunakan teori kata majemuk Plag (2002). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini pertama, peneliti menemukan 45 data kata majemuk dengan tiga jenis kata majemuk. Ada 29 data kata benda, Sembilan data kata kerja dan tujuh data kata sifat. Kedua, peneliti menemukan 39 data kata endocentric, empat data kata exocentricdan dua data kata copulative dengan satu data kata appositional dan satu data kata coordinative. Kata majemuk dalam artikel politik tidak selalu memiliki korelasi dengan tema politik. Dari 45 data kata majemuk, hanya 17 data kata majemuk yang memiliki korelasi dengan tema politik. Secara teoritis, kata majemuk dalam artikel politik dapat dipahami maknanya melalui menemukan jenis dan menganalisis kepala semantik kata majemuk tersebut. Secara praktis, kata majemuk dalam artikel politik tidak selalu memiliki korelasi dengan tema politik.
