Abstract

Most Indonesian people probably never realize whether the vocabularies read in some books or other media come from the process of foreign language integration (loan word) or not. This is for the reason that in this research, the researcher would like to discuss about integration found in one daily newspaper. The researcher used several theories related to the problem. There are problem that researcher wants to point out in this study. It can be formulated as follows: first. what are English vocabularies integrated and types of English loan words are found in Tribun Jabar newspaper (forum rubric). Second, do they have a difference or similarity of meaning in both Indonesian and English. The method used of this research is qualitative. That is method used to solve and answer the research problems. The researcher analyzed the data which taken from Tribun Jabar newspaper (forum rubric). From two research question given, the result of analysis shows that there were fifty words chosen as the data, they are analyzed based on Samsuri’s theory about the type of loan word: complex loan words, simple loan word, translation word and the researcher used three dictionaries as a tool to help the researcher analyzed the meanings of those words. The result of the research showed that there were 38 complex loan words, 7 simple loan word and 5 translation word. Besides, there were 40 words having similar meanings, meanwhile, 10 words having different and similar meanings in both Indonesian and English. According to the data above the writer assumes that some Indonesian vocabularies come from English as integrated words into Indonesian.
