Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to find out the formula patterns of classical detective in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s seven stories in The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes stories. In this research, woman character support Holmes’s detection in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s seven stories in The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes stories. This research uses the decretive method to find out the formula patterns of classical detective and woman character support Holmes’s detection in seven stories of The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes. The statements of problem in this research are what the formula patterns of classical detective in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s seven stories in The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes stories Other than that, how the woman characters support Holmes’s detection in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s seven stories in The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes stories. The researcher collect the data by gives the description of the story and quote it in the form of statement conversation, and narrations that support the analysis data. The theory that is used in this research is the formula classical detective by John G. Cawelti, opinions about woman characters in a detective story, and opinion about the character of Holmes’s detection by A. Kayalvizhi, Ma, M.Phil,Ph.D.Scholar. The result of this research shows how to formula can arranges the seventh stories in The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes and how the formula can construct the detective story. The formula of detective story is constructed by situation, pattern of action, characters and relationship, and setting. The existence of woman character in detective story is supporting Holmes as the detective to solve the case, the give clues, information, and explain the situation that happened. They are the key of the detective’s detection in the seventh stories of The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes. LiliAwaludin, S.S., Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari tahu bentuk detektif klasik formula dalam tujuh cerita di The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes. Serta menemukan peran karakter perempuan dapat membangun deduksi karakter Holmes dalam tujuh cerita di The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif untuk menjelaskan bentuk detektif klasik formula dan menjelaskan karakter perempuan dalam mendukung deduksi karakter detektif dalam tujuh cerita di The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes. Permasalahan yang dimunculkan dalam penelitian ini adalah apa saja bentuk detektif klasik formula dalam tujuh cerita di The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes. Serta bagimana karakter perempuan dapat membangun deduksi pada karakter Holmes. Peneliti mengumpulkan data dengan cara mendeskripsikan yang terjadi dalam cerita tersebut dan mengutipanya berupa pernyataan, percakapan, dan narasi yang menunjang data analisis. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah teori The Formula Classical Detective oleh John G. Cawelti, pendapat tentang karakter perempuan dalam cerita detektif oleh Meghan R. Gordon, dan pendapat tentang deduksi karakter Holmes oleh A. Kayalvizhi, Ma, M.Phil., Ph.D.Scholar Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa formula detektif klasik dapat menyusun ketujuh cerita dalam The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes dan bagaimana formula dapat membangun cerita detektif. Formula dalam cerita detektif dibangun oleh situasi, alur, karakter, dan seting. Keberadaan karakter perempuan dalam cerita detektif ialah mendukung Holmes sebagai detektif untuk menyelesaikan kasusnya seperti memberikan petunjuk, informasi, dan penjelasan situasi yang terjadi.Karakter perempuan adalah kunci dari deduksi detektif dalam ketujuh cerita The Adfventure of Sherlock Holmes.
