Abstract

One of content of newspaper is editorial. This part provides especially for the editor to report the issues based on his own opinion. The issues, which are reported, cannot be separated from editor’s point of view or in this case ideology. Thus, however the issues in editorial always bring certain ideology. Moreover, ideology can influence how those issues provide in editorial. Ideology can be reflected through the language in which the editor uses to report the issues in editorial. Therefore, the researcher is interested in investigating editor ideology. In this case, the researcher analyzed editorial of Jakarta post published on 15th – 20th April 2013. To find out the ideology reflected in Jakarta post editorial, the researcher uses transitivity analysis. Transitivity is tool to analyze ideology reflected in language. Moreover, the researcher provides two statement problems in this research. They are what the dominant processes found in Jakarta post editorial and what ideology reflected in The Jakarta Post editorial. In addition, the researcher conducts this research by using qualitative approach. Thus, the researcher used descriptive method in this research. However, to find out dominant processes the researcher uses the formula to convert the number of processes into percentage form, then provides its descriptive statistic in the table. The researcher found that material process dominates in each Jakarta post editorial. It was found that in editorial on 15th April material process 54%. Then, on 16th April material process is 46%. Editorial on 17th April, material process is 53%. Editorial on 18th April, material process is 53.19%. Editorial on 19th April, material process is 5l% and on 20th April is 60.52%.Overall, the editor frequently criticizes and even leans become opposite from the government in regarding the issues in Jakarta post editorial on 15th -20th April. Based on the result, it is clear that the dominant process in Jakarta post 15th-20th April 2013 is material process and all the issues relate to the government. Moreover, the ideology of the editor is opposite from the government in regarding all the issues in which the government involves
