Abstract
Hot Ones" is a talk show streamed by the First We Feast YouTube channel that gives spicy food to their guests while they talk with the host. It becomes fascinating to observe people's conversations in such a setting. For two people to communicate effectively, they typically chat in a natural and suitable environment. Therefore, this research focuses on examining human communication when consuming hot food, especially to explore its cooperative principles and implicature using Grice’s (1975) and Tovmasyan’s (2020) theories. In order to identify themes, patterns, and concepts in the discourse, the descriptive qualitative method is used. The research demonstrates that spicy food makes people less attentive to conversations. It denotes the existence of flouting and violating maxims (quantity, manner, and relation) with 18 and 21 data out of 42. The maxim of relation was most frequently found to be flouted or violated. However, the data for the opting-out maxim is just 2, and the clashing maxim is just 1. It is therefore highlighted by the finding that 13 data indicate that most of the implicature is irrelevant. The guests' unwillingness to join in the conversation, as there are only 2 data, is the least implicature.
