Abstract

Work discipline is critical for the successful implementation of a job;thus every employee is obliged to obey and follow the regulations that apply to an agency. Discipline is an operative function of Human Resources Management because the better the employee discipline, the higher the work performance that can be achieved. The problem discussed in this study was the low level of employee work discipline. The research location was at the Kiaracondong District Office, Bandung City, Indonesia. The objective of this study was to determine and describe the work discipline of employees at the Kiaracondong District Office, Bandung City, assessed based on several components: attendance, compliance with work regulations, adherence to work standards, and high levels of vigilance and ethical work. This study used a qualitative method with a case study approach—data collection techniques: observation, interviews, documentation, and the study of the results. The informants in the study were the Head of the KiaracondongDistrict, the Head of the Sub-Division of General Affairs and Personnel, the Head of the Government Section, and the Service Operator. The findings of this study showed that the work discipline of employees at the Kiaracondong District Office, Bandung City, as a whole, is not optimal as there are still employees who arrive late not in accordance with applicable working hours and employees who do not come to work without providing any information. There are still mistakes in carrying out their professional duties.
