Abstract
This research is focuses on analyzing the bravery sign that exist in the Bilal: A New Breed of Hero movie and using Charles Sanders Pierce’s model to get the pure meaning of every index, icon, symbol, qualisign, sinsign, legisign, rheme, dicent/decisign, and argument which appears by the character contained in the film "Bilal: A New Breed of Hero". Bilal: A New Breed of Hero, this study has three objectives: (1) To find out the object of bravery in language and visuals contained in the animated film Bilal: A New Breed of Hero. (2) To identify the representation of visual signs found in the film Bilal: A New Breed of Hero (3) To identify the interpretation of the bravery aspects of the language and visual signs contained in the animated film Bilal: A New Breed of Hero. The sign is formed by relation of triangle meaning, there are representamen as a sign, and the sign has relating with the object it’s represent, then it produces an interpretation. This research uses qualitative research methods with semiotic analysis methods. Qualitative research methods are methods that are related to data and are used to properly describe the approach, types of data, data collection techniques, and data analysis processes. Based on the data found and analyzed in the animated film Bilal: A New Breed of Hero using Charles Sanders Peirce theory of semiotics, many visual and language signs that the writer founded. Lots of them contains a bravery sign in it. And the writer also found that there are many types of courage, such as brave to give an opinion, brave to be honest, brave to be different, and brave to protect others. Based on the descriptions that have been carried out by researcher regarding "A Sign of Bravery in Bilal: A New Breed of Hero Movie" using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic analysis, it can be concluded that in the animated film Bilal: A New Breed of Hero film found: sign of bravery in language and the visual signs represented in the film Bilal: A New Breed of Hero film are: Bilal chose to embrace Islam even though he was faced with great threats and faced with various kinds of trials. The interpretation of the bravery aspect of language and visual signs in Bilal: A New Breed of Hero film is Bilal is a brave and fearless person in showing the truth and defending what he thinks is right.
