Abstract

INDONESIA : Pemecahan masalah matematis merupakan proses mengatasi kesulitan yang ditemui untuk mencapai suatu tujuan yang diinginkan. Berdasarkan masalah yang ditemui di lapangan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa masih rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang ditinjau dari gaya kognitif field independent (FI) dan gaya kognitif field dependent (FD). Penelitian ini melibatkan 20 siswa kelas VII MTs. Siti Hajar Kab. Bandung dengan teknik pengumpulan data pemberian soal pemecahan masalah matematis dan wawancara. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 4 siswa gaya kognitif field independent dan 4 siswa gaya kognitif field dependent. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari keempat indikator pemecahan masalah matematis subjek penelitian dengan gaya kognitif field independent (FI) lebih baik dalam memahami masalah, membuat rencana penyelesaian, melaksanakan rencana penyelesaian serta memeriksa kembali dibandingkan subjek penelitian dengan gaya kognitif field dependent (FD). Hal ini terlihat dari hasil tes siswa dan wawancara yang dilakukan peneliti dengan subjek penelitian. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat dijadikan dasar oleh pengajar dalam memberikan bantuan secara tepat. ENGLISH : Mathematical problem solving is a process of overcoming the difficulties encountered to achieve a desired goal. Based on the problems encountered in the field, students' mathematical problem solving is still low. This study aims to describe students' mathematical problem solving abilities in terms of field independent cognitive style (FI) and field dependent cognitive style (FD). This study involved 20 students of class VII MTs. Siti Hajar Kab.Bandung with data collection techniques giving mathematical problem solving problems and interviews. The research subjects consisted of 4 students with field independent cognitive style and 4 students with field dependent cognitive style. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The results showed that of the four indicators of mathematical problem solving, research subjects with field independent cognitive style (FI) were better at understanding problems, making plans for solving problems, implementing settlement plans and re-examining research subjects with field dependent cognitive style (FD). This can be seen from the results of student tests and interviews conducted by researchers with research subjects. It is hoped that this research can be used as a basis by teachers in providing appropriate assistance.
