Abstract

INDONESIA : Kompetensi dan keterampilan yang dibutuhkan siswa pada pembelajaran abad 21 salah satunya menekankan pada keterampilan berpikir kritis. Namun, pembelajaran yang masih diterapkan sampai saat ini dapat dikatakan belum sepenuhnya efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keterlaksanaan aktivitas pembelajaran, menganalisis peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa, menganalisis pengaruh model pembelajaran ARCS terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa, dan mendeskripsikan respon siswa terhadap model ARCS pada materi sistem ekskresi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasi Eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Nonequivalent control group design. Sampel penelitian dipilih melalui teknik Purposive Sampling dengan menggunakan kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen sebagai sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterlaksanaan aktivitas pembelajaran memperoleh kriteria sangat baik. Peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa di kelas eksperimen memperoleh nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,60 dengan kriteria sedang. Nilai tersebut lebih besar dibandingkan nilai kelas kontrol dengan nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,40 dengan kriteria sedang. Peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis tertinggi di kelas eksperimen yaitu pada indikator menetapkan strategi dan taktik dengan nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,87 dengan kriteria tinggi. Hasil pengujian hipotesis uji t menunjukkan nilai Thitung > Ttabel yaitu sebesar 2,626 > 1,998 sehingga Ha diterima. Respon siswa terhadap model pembelajaran ARCS memperoleh kriteria sangat baik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari penggunaan model pembelajaran ARCS terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa khususnya pada materi sistem ekskresi. ENGLISH : One of the competencies and skills needed by students in 21st century learning is to emphasize critical thinking skills. However, learning that is still being applied to date can be said to have not been fully effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. This study aims to describe the implementation of learning activities, analyze the improvement of students' critical thinking skills, analyze the effect of the ARCS learning model on improving students' critical thinking skills, and describe students' responses to the ARCS model on the excretory system material. The research method used is a quasi-experimental research design with Nonequivalent control group design. The research sample was selected through the purposive sampling technique using the control class and the experimental class as samples. The results showed that the implementation of learning activities obtained very good criteria. The improvement of students' critical thinking skills in the experimental class obtained an N-Gain value of 0.60 with moderate criteria. This value is greater than the value of the control class with an N-Gain value of 0.40 with moderate criteria. The highest improvement in critical thinking skills in the experimental class is the indicator of setting strategies and tactics with an N-Gain value of 0.87 with high criteria. The results of testing the t-test hypothesis show the value of Tcount > Ttable, which is 2,626 > 1,998 so Ha is accepted. Student responses to the ARCS learning model obtained very good criteria. Based on the results of this study, there is a significant effect of using the ARCS learning model on improving students' critical thinking skills, especially on the excretory system material.
