Abstract

The background of this research is that there is a gap between the expectations of education users, especially at MAN 1 Tasikmalaya and the reality on the ground, which is related to the moral degradation that occurs in students. This is addressed with the application of boarding school-based student management in an effort to build character as a solution to the problems that occur so that this research is very important to do. The basic assumption that indicates the importance of conducting research is to answer several questions related to planning, organizing, implementing, evaluating, supporting and inhibiting factors as well as the success of management of students based on pesantren in character building efforts. The purpose of this study is to analyze and describe the pesantrenbased student management process as an effort to build character with the hope that the management of students can run in an orderly, orderly manner so that it can support the achievement of learning objectives. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation and documentation studies. The findings of this study are that MAN 1 Tasikmalaya applies student management with several stages, including the first, the planning stage, which is to determine the prioritized characters and then develop a character development plan. Second. The organizing stage is to determine the division of tasks to socialize the predetermined characters. Third. The implementation stage is determining the steps for implementing the program, determining student management activities starting from needs analysis, to graduation and alumni and determining boarding schoolbased student management methods. The evaluation stage is carried out by involving internal and external madrasas. Supporting and inhibiting factors greatly affect the achievement of the program. The novelty of this research is that the pattern of student management is found as a differentiator from previous research, especially in the discussion of student management based on pesantren. The offer of ideas in this study is the need for synergies between Madrasas and Islamic boarding schools in the MAN 1 Tasikmalaya environment through cooperation that agrees on the goals of the two institutions and the availability of human resource components and completeness of IT-based facilities and infrastructure, can make MAN 1 Tasikmalaya have the opportunity to print balanced output between intellectual and moral dimensions.
