Abstract

This research calculated and analyzed changes in position and mass due to out gassing on Comet C/2013 RI-Lovejoy by knowing the shape of the orbit, determining the diameter of the coma per time, calculating the volume value of the comet and determining the change in mass lost due to outgassing in a certain period of time. The first process is installing Maxim DL software to read the observation images to be known the position of Comet C/2013 RI-Lovejoy. The Second is processing the data using by COBS orbit and diameter of the cometto find out its volume and mass by knowning the magnitude of density of the comet type. Subsequently creates a comet diameter plot against delta t (as position) taken from JPL NASA as the comet distances in to the Sun. The Perihelion distance of comets is 0.96698520 AU eith a periode of 26.39 years. The closer the comet is to the sun, the large the diameter because when the comet passes around the Sun, the comet’s nucleus will sublimitify and look like it “swells”. The outgassing mass that accrus in the tail of the comet is ~4109 kg/m3 and in the nucleus is ~61013 kg/m3 which is directional away from the Sun. Dalam penelitian ini menghitung dan menganalisis perubahan posisi dan massa akibat outgassing pada Komet C/2013 RI-Lovejoy dengan mengetahui bentuk orbit, menentukan diamnter koma komet per waktu serta menghitung volume komet. Proses pertama menginstal software Maxim DL untuk membaca gambar hasil pengamatan agar diketahui posisi komet. Kedua, proses mengolah data agar diketahui orbit dengan COBS dan diamter komet untuk mengetahui volume dan massanya. Kemudian membuat plot terhadap delta t (posisi) yang diambil dari JPL NASA. Jarak perihelion Komet adalah 0,96698520 SA dengan periode 26,39 tahun. Semakin dekat jarak komet dengan Matahari maka diameter akan semakin besar karena pada saat komet melintas di sekitar Matahari maka inti Komet akan menyublim dan tampak seperti “membengkak”. Massa outgassing yang terjadi di ekor komet adalah ~4109 kg/m3 dan di inti komet adalah ~61013 kg/m3 yang arahnya menjauhi Matahari.
