Abstract

INDONESIA: Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) merupakan senyawa polyorganosiloxane yang paling sering digunakan sebagai pengganti vitreous humour pada bedah vitreoretinal. PDMS biasanya disintesis melalui metode ring opening polimerization (ROP) dari octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4) dan chain terminator hexamethyldisiloxane (MM) dengan penambahan katalis hidroksida. Sebagai prekursor dalam sintesis PDMS, monomer siloxane sangat sulit didapatkan di Indonesia dan harganya yang mahal jika harus import dari luar. Oleh karena itu, dalam penelitian ini dilakukan hidrolisis dichlorodimethylsilane sebagai alternatif untuk mengganti prekursor dalam sintesis PDMS menggunakan teknik refluks berpengaduk dengan variasi konsentrasi basa yang digunakan adalah 0% (M-0), 2.81% (M-2), 3.36% (M-3), dan 4.48% (M-4) serta variasi waktu refluks selama 2, 4 dan 6 jam. Kemudian hasil hidrolisis digunakan untuk sintesis PDMS melalui ROP dan kondensasi. Hasil pengukuran pH sebelum purifikasi menunjukkan bahwa dari keempat variasi konsentrasi memiliki nilai pH mendekati netral, dan transparansi mendekati bahan komersial. Dari pengukuran viskositas menunjukkan bahwa pada konsentrasi 2.81, 3.36 dan 4.48% dengan waktu refluks 2 jam memiliki nilai viskositas 1.97, 1.48 dan 1.70 Pa.s yang dimana nilai tersebut telah memasuki rentang nilai viskositas dari PDMS. Sehingga selain melalui ROP, PDMS juga dapat disintesis melalui kondensasi dari hasil hidrolisis dichlorodimethylsilane dengan nilai viskositas PDMS setelah purifikasi adalah 2.03, 2.05 dan 2.30 Pa.s (middle viscosity). Hasil karakterisasi FTIR menunjukkan bahwa terdapat serapan bilangan gelombang yang khas dari gugus fungsi Si-O-Si, Si-C dari CH3 dan Si-O tanpa adanya ikatan C-Cl yang menyertai. ENGLISH: Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is a polyorganosiloxane compound that is most often used as a substitute for vitreous humor in vitreoretinal surgery. PDMS is usually synthesized through the ring opening polymerization (ROP) method of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4) and chain terminator hexamethyldisiloxane (MM) with the addition of a hydroxide catalyst. As a precursor in the synthesis of PDMS, siloxane monomer is very difficult to obtain in Indonesia and the price is expensive if it has to be imported from outside. Therefore, in this study, the hydrolysis of dichlorodimethylsilane was carried out as an alternative to replace the precursors in PDMS synthesis using a stirred reflux technique with variations in the concentration of bases used were 0% (M-0), 2.81% (M-2), 3.36% (M- 3), and 4.48% (M-4) as well as the variation of reflux time for 2, 4 and 6 hours. Then the results of hydrolysis are used for PDMS synthesis via ROP and condensation. The results of pH measurements before purification show that the four concentration variations have a pH value close to neutral, and transparency approaching commercial materials. The viscosity measurement shows that at concentrations of 2.81, 3.36 and 4.48% with a reflux time of 2 hours, the viscosity values of 1.97, 1.48 and 1.70 Pa.s have entered the viscosity value range of PDMS. So that apart from using ROP, PDMS can also be synthesized through condensation from the hydrolysis of dichlorodimethylsilane with PDMS viscosity values after purification of 2.03, 2.05 and 2.30 Pa.s (middle viscosity). The FTIR characterization results showed that there was a unique wave number absorption from the Si-O-Si, Si-C functional groups from CH3 and Si-O without any accompanying C-Cl bonds.
