Abstract
This research aims to identify the types of pun and the strategy of translating pun in Rick and Morty series. The research is descriptive qualitative, which uses content analysis approach. The data are taken from the dialogues in an American adult animated science fiction series Rick and Morty. The researcher collects the data by downloading and watching the series, identifying the data, marking the data, and later collecting the data. Then, the researcher analyzes the data by managing the data, classifying the data, interpreting the data, and concluding the data. In analyzing the data, the researcher uses Schröter’s types of pun and strategy of translating pun as main theory. The result shows that there are a total of 68 data of pun that can be classified as homonymic pun with 24 data, polysemic pun with two data, homophonic pun with 9 data, and paronymic pun with 33 data. The result also indicates that there are five strategies of translating pun that are used in translating the pun in Rick and Morty from the source language to the target language.
