Abstract

This paper explores the way in which validating information or in Islam also known as the concept of Tabayyun can be implemented. Given the need for information in today’s time is excessive, the internet is the main source for information for various needs such as education, economy, or health-related information. However, not all information available on internet deemed to be true. In some cases it gives misleading information. In the context of Covid-19 Pandemic, hoaxes are still one of the problems need to be adressed, due to lack of competency in Information Literacy skill. The concept of Tabayyun is a revelation-based concept since the dawn of Islam in the time of Prophet Muhammad SAW. The paper attempts to contextualize the concept for the current situation. The concept of Tabayyun will be incorporated as well into the concept of Information Literacy as a practical method to evaluate information.
