Abstract

In interacting and communicating, the language has an important role. Code mixing is a condition where people use more than one language on the same topic. This research is descriptive qualitative method that uses content analysis to explain the original phenomena that happens the data in research questions. Data source from Paul Partohap’s YouTube videos which contains Paul and Gita speech naturally. In analyzing data, the writer uses Muysken’s theory about types of code mixing and Lakoff’s theory about characteristics languages of code mixing used by Male and Female. The writer uses four steps such as identifying data, categorizing data, analyzing data, and making conclusion based on the result of the research. The results of this research the writer found 117 data of insertion, 22 data of alternation, and 6 data of congruent lexicalization, 1 male data and 3 female data of avoidance of strong swear words, 1 male data and 2 female data of empty adjectives, 2 male data and 2 female data of hedge, 3 male data and 2 female data of rising intonation on declarative, 1 male data and 1 female data of tag questions, and 1 male data of intensifier.
