Abstract

ENGLISH In this research, the writer discusses in Off Record Strategy on The Comment of Netizens in CNN Tweets. The analyzes the politeness strategies that will be found in the comment of CNN Tweets. It is formulated in two research questions, namely: 1) what strategies in off record strategy occur as triggered by invite conversational implicatures existed in the comment of CNN tweets? 2) what strategies in off record strategy occur as triggered by vague or ambiguous existed in the comment of CNN tweets? The study of Off Record Strategy on The Comment of Netizens in CNN Tweets. The writer uses theory from Brown and Levinson’s (1987:22) about politeness, face- threatening act also politeness strategy. This research obtained data through research methodology. The research methodology uses descriptive qualitative. The data is obtained by identifying, classifying, and making conclusions. The result of the study is found 27 data. The first problem is strategies in off record strategy occur as triggered by invite conversational implicatures existed in the comment of CNN tweets found 10 strategies and 19 data while the second problem strategies in off record strategy occur as triggered by vague or ambiguous existed in the comment of CNN tweets found 5 strategies and 8 data. INDONESIA Pada penelitian ini penulis membahas mengenai strategi off record yang berada di dalam komentar khalayak di akun twitter CNN. Penelitian tentang strategies politeness akan ditemukan di media twitter. Hal tersebut dirumuskan dalam dua research question yaitu: 1) what strategies in off record strategy occur as triggered by invite conversational implicatures existed in the comment of CNN tweets? 2) What strategies in off record strategy occur as triggered by vague or ambiguous existed in the comment of CNN tweets? Penelitian tentang strategi off record yang berada di dalam komentar khalayak di akun twitter CNN ini, penulis menggunakan teori dari Brown and Levinson’s (1987:22) yang membahas mengenai politeness, face-threatening act dan juga politeness strategy. Penelitian ini mendapatkan data melalui metodologi penelitian. Adapun metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptifkualitatif. Data tersebut diperoleh dengan cara mengidentifikasi, mengklasifikasi, dan membuat kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan 27 data. Pada permasalahan pertama yaitu mengenai strategies in off record strategy occur as triggered by invite conversational implicatures existed in the comment of CNN tweets penulis menemukan 10 strategi dengan jumlah data 19 sedangkan pada permasalahan kedua mengenai strategies in off record strategy occur as triggered by vague or ambiguous existed in the comment of CNN tweets ditemukan 5 strategi dengan umlah data 8.
