Abstract

The research analyzes the conflict on character, source and function of conflict in Hangout and Hot Fuzz movie script. The writer chooses both movies because they has similarities and difference that are good to be compared. This research aims to answer the following questions: (1) What kinds of conflict are faced by characters in Hot Fuzz and Hangout? (2) What are the sources of the conflicts the characters endure in Hot Fuzz and Hangout? (3) What are similar and different conflicts and sources on characters in Hot Fuzz and Hangout? To answer the problem, researcher uses Lewis Coser theory for classifying the kinds of conflict supporting theory, for classifying the source and function of conflict and comparative literature theory to compare the movies. Researcher uses qualitative method. The technique of collecting data is documentation studies. The finding of the research is that the movie uses group style in describing classification the conflict on characters and analysis the source of conflict, then comparison both movies. It can be concluded that there many external conflict in both of movies. In Hot Fuzz, there are many conflict causes to involve social position, but in Hangout so many conflict causes a role. Source of conflict in Hot Fuzz are more dominant is causing incompatible a role. Source conflict in Hangout more dominant that is causing limited resource. There are 10 functions that the writer gets from both of movies. The similarities and different that the researcher gets more dominant than the difference, both of movies have a conflict that are same; it is murdered. The equation is that both of movies is consecutive murdered, the killer wears black robe, and the murder stab the object. The different is the cause of the murdered.
