Abstract

Anubias plants (Anubias barteri var. Barteri) are one of the aquatic plants that are widely used as ornamental plants in aquascape. Propagation of vegetative anubias has not obtained maximum results so that propagation is done through tissue culture. This study aims to determine effective sterilization techniques of contamination, to determine the effect of BAP and NAA concentrations on the induction of aksilar shoots of Anubias barteri var. Barteri and know the best BAP and NAA concentration for the induction of aksilar buds Anubias barteri var. Barteri. The explants used in this study are the rhizome anubias segment with one axillary bud. This research was carried out at RHIN-Biotechnology Laboratory in April to July 2018. This study consisted of two experimental stages. The first experiment was explant sterilization technique with two different sterilization techniques, namely S1 = 50% alcohol for 1 minute + 10% clorox for 12 minutes + aquadest for 5 minutes, S2 = 0.05% hgCl + 2 drops tween 20 for 3 minutes + aquadest for 3 minutes + 10% clorox + 2 drops tween 20 for 15 minutes + 5% clorox for 5 minutes + aquadest for 5 minutes. The second experiment was the administration of BAP with a concentration of 4.5, 8, 11.5 and 15 mg L-1 and NAA with a concentration of 0.01.0.1.1.3 and 2.5 mg L-1. The results showed that S2 sterilization technique was an effective sterilization technique because it produced a low percentage of contamination which was 6% while S2 produced a percentage of 100% contamination. The concentration of BAP and NAA has different effects and the concentration of BAP 4.5 mg L-1 and NAA 2.5 mg L-1 is the best concentration that can induce aksilar buds Anubias barteri var. Barteri.
