Abstract
Everyone has language characteristics that are used when communicating or conveying ideas. It aims to attract the attention of others, or even influence something that is conveyed. Each person's characteristics will affect the gender stereotypes they will get in a group or society. Then this thesis answers two questions. First, how do the characteristics of language influence the interpretation of the Qur'an by Amina Wadud and Dzakir Naik; secondly, how do gender stereotypes generated in the interpretation of the Holy Qur'an by Amina Wadud and Dzakir Naik. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The resulting data is from the results of reading books the Qur'an and Women by Amina Wadud and The Qur'an and Modern Science by Dzakir Naik, determining objects, grouping data, analyzing and concluding. This study resulted, in some interpretations of Amina Wadud and Dzakir Naik, there are characteristics of the language used, that is emphatic stress and intensifier, with the characteristics of the language used to influence the results of the interpretation of holy Qur’an. In addition, writer found the existence of gender stereotypes in the work of Amina Wadud and Dzakir Naik.
