Abstract

Utilizing media is necessary to assist the teacher in conducting teaching learning activities. CD Interactive is one of alternatives media that is able to stimulate students` interest in learning English. CD Interactive is versatile device, it consists of explanation of material, quizzes, scoring, and games. Even, those are delivered by interesting way. So that, students might catch the material without realizing that they are learning. This research has several objectives, firstly, to know the condition of students` achievement in learning English by using CD Interactive as media. Secondly, it is done to know the condition of students` achievement in learning English that was taught without using CD Interactive. Further, to know whether CD Interactive usage has a significant influence or not on students` achievement in learning English. The method of this research is an experimental method. Thus, in implementing the research two classes was taken as sample to be divided into experiment class and control class. XI IPA 1 was chosen to be experiment class that was treated by applying CD Interactive in teaching learning process, meanwhile XI IPA 2 was chosen to be control class that was taught without using CD Interactive. The result of data analysis shown us that the experiment class has achieved average score 74. 32. This score is gained between the highest score 90 and the lowest score 60. Meanwhile, control class has only achieved the average score 64. 65 with highest score 83 and the lowest score 50. Those data resulted t count = 3.06 and table 2.65 at significant difference trust degrees 1%. It meant the null hypothesis is rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that CD Interactive has an influence on students` achievement in learning English. From this, CD Interactive can be one of various media that is considered by teachers to aid them in conveying material.
