Abstract

The student�s abilitu in conversation or speaking is one of the goals in language teaching. In the reality, English teaching program in almost school levels in Indonesia are not successful, most og the students cannot speak Englinsh well. Whereas, speaking or conversation is the primaru function as the tool for interaction and communication among human being. Many aspects can cause teaching speaking unsuccesfull ineffective. One of the effectiveness of methodology and system of language teaching. This research aim ti describe the process of teaching speaking at conversation club that applied English as daily language, also to identify its supporting factors and the result that has been reached by the learners in speaking English. Descriptive method is used in this research. It is one of the method in language research that characreized by the fact that employs explicitly method of inquiry and able to justify them broadly in teaching speaking process. The method is used to solving the actual problems. To prove this assumption, the researcher uses techniques of observation, analyzing, and deciding the data. In other word, to arrange (collect), to explain (study), and to analyze (interpret) the data. This research finds that teaching English speaking would be successful and effective wit better outcomes if it is supported by good teaching, components, especially in techniques and media of language teaching. Because there are many factors that cause teaching speaking unsuccessfull and ineffective, such as lack of the media for the learners to practice their Engling and less the supply of learners� vocabulary. Also this research finds that the most prestigious media for speaking is environment, because environment is the appropriate media for the learners to practice their English in daily conversation. Conversation practice is the most suitable technique in teaching speaking. Finally, this research concluded thet the effectivenessof teaching English speaking would have better result if the teachers supply the learners� vocabularies, apply daily conversation practice, and using environment as the media.
